And we're finally beginning! Hopefully you've already at least begun the book but if you haven't, feel free to join in wherever you are. Beware there may be spoilers in the blog.
To begin, I just wanted to share a bit about the author. Love Walked In is the first novel from Marisa de los Santos. This book was chosen in part because the follow-up book, Belong to Me, which continues the story of Cornelia, Teo and company, was released in April this year. There is a brief interview with the author available on Amazon on her follow-up book. Prior to these two novels, Marisa published a collection of poetry titled From the Bones Out: Poems.
Love Walked In itself received wide acclaim when published in 2005, including being a Library Journal Best Book of 2006 pick, and was on many bestseller lists including the New York Times. It spawned its own website, www.lovewalkedin.com, and according to Contemporary Authors Online there is a film adaptation planned starring Sarah Jessica Parker.

Samples of the author's poetry and essays are available on love walkedin.com. Do you see the influence of this poetry background in this novel?
What actors would you select to cast this book as a movie?

I was surprised to read about the author's poetry background. I more would have guessed that she had a background in film studies. I thought I knew classic movies but reading this book made me think twice about that. I have a whole new list of classics to review. I don't think that it kept me from appreciating the story, but it may help. Wish she had a list of the movies she referenced in the back of the book or on the website. I did find the main character a little too wordy to get into in the beginning but eventually it felt natural.
I was not/am not a Sex in the City viewer so I don't know all the hype about SJ Parker. I'm curious to see who will play Teo. For some reason I can't settle on a good visual for him from the book.
I emailed the author today, who sent this list, in no particular order:
The Philadelphia Story
The Thin Man
Libeled Lady
Forsaking All Others
It Happened One Night
To Catch a Thief
The Country Girl
Rear Window
Notorious

Little Women (with June Allyson)
The Lilies of the Field
It’s a Wonderful Life
Charade
The Strange Love of Martha Ivers
Now, Voyager
Splendor in the Grass
Dr. Zhivago
Roman Holiday
In This Life
